Extreme sports … Choose one for yourself

Extreme sports … Choose one for yourself

Some people do extreme sports on a daily basis, others mainly during the holiday or winter season. However, even the most experienced and prepared enthusiasts of this type of activities must take into account the risk of injury or injury. For this reason, it is advisable to have adequate insurance. There are more and more insurance offers or travel policies available on the market, which cover extreme sports. Insurers’ offers may vary, so it’s a good idea to browse through the available ones and choose those that cover your sport.

Types of extreme sports

Among the extreme experiences that can be experienced on land are motorsports, motocross and mountain sports. Usually, they do not require lifting off the ground, and if they do, they only last a moment. The latter group is quite diverse, as it includes, m.in, climbing and its variants, i.e. mountaineering (climbing in high mountains), cycling and winter sports. Speaking of extreme land sports, it is worth mentioning that there is also a division into winter and summer extreme sports.

In the water or on the water – this is how extreme water sports can be implemented. Among the most popular are windsurfing, diving, water rafting and kitesurfing, m.in. Some of them are particularly spectacular because they are based on acrobatics and figures performed above the surface of the water.

This is the category that most often comes to mind when we think about the classification of extreme sports. This large group includes parachute jumping, dream jumping, bungee jumping and paragliding.  Although the previously mentioned climbing is classified as a land sport, mountaineering and rock climbing are often also included in this category.

When defining extreme sports, we quoted the assumptions of many insurance companies that omit parachute jumps in their classification, but some of them emphasize that parachute jumping is often made from a height of 3000-4000 meters, so this attraction is really extreme. Therefore, it is worth knowing that classifying a parachute jump as an extreme air sport is not wrong. Interestingly, in order to practice some of the extreme sports, you need to have completed special courses and have the appropriate qualifications.

List of the most popular and extreme experiences

You already know a lot about what extreme sports are and how we classify them. Now it’s time for examples! We have prepared a list of – in our opinion, the most popular and extreme extreme sports. You can buy some of them as an experience as a gift (even for yourself!) on our websiteGift of dreams. The category of extreme gifts is also constantly expanding.

  • Parachute jump – this is undoubtedly the most popular attraction, which is classified as extreme and those in the air. The jump is made from a height of about 3000-4000 meters and is accompanied by great emotions. The free fall lasts about 50 seconds, then the main parachute opens at an altitude of 1700 meters. Of course, each jump is performed in tandem with an experienced instructor. Someone who wants to jump alone must have the appropriate qualifications.
  • Dream Jump – here you don’t need an instructor during the jump. This is a special type of jumping from a height with the use of a belay system made of dynamic ropes and a pulley. This design allows for maximum extension of the free fall up to 90% of the height of the object from which the jump is made.
  • Bungee jump – most often it is done from a tower crane or a special crane from several dozen meters. Jumpers jump secured with two types of harnesses, i.e. they have a full harness, which is the main harness, and ankle harnesses put on their legs.
  • Canyoning – a sport that involves, m.in, overcoming obstacles in the water, jumping from the top of waterfalls and moving through mountain gorges. Obstacles can only be overcome with the power of your own muscles, being equipped with a helmet, ropes, harness and other protection.
  • Flyboard is an extremely spectacular attraction that provides a huge dose of adrenaline. The participant puts on special “jet” shoes and, thanks to the high pressure, can rise to a height of 10 meters above the surface of the water.
  • Motocross riding  –  sand, clay, steep descents, climbs – this is what you most often encounter on a motocross track. It should be noted that motocross motorcycles are not street legal due to their construction. They do not have mirrors or lighting and are mainly adapted for off-road tracks. All this to provide maximum adrenaline.
  • Bosseball is an extreme combination of volleyball, football, gymnastics and capoeira. During this sport, participants move around an inflatable pitch that resembles those in trampoline parks.
  • Unicycling – while a bike trip among mountain trails does not seem to be something very extreme, riding on one wheel gives you goosebumps. Unicycling is all about riding on one wheel without a handhold… Or rather, a descent from steep mountain trails!

The list we have presented is really only a part of extreme sports. It is worth expanding it with unusual extreme attractions.

Examples of unusual extreme attractions

Cave diving, extreme ironing or skyaking sound surprising? See what else is on our list.

  • Cave diving – the sport is about exploring the most hard-to-reach nooks and crannies in caves underwater. Due to the prevailing pressure in the depths, this is very difficult.
  • Extreme ironinig – this is nothing more than extreme ironing. Sounds strange, doesn’t it? However, for thrill seekers, ironing clothes on top of a rock, in the air or underwater, is nothing strange.
  • SkyAking – is a combination of a jump with a parachute with… Kayak. A participant sitting in a kayak is thrown out of the plane and then lands in the water.
  • Slacklining – involves crossing a ravine on a rope that is suspended just above it and often does not have additional protection.

Unusual extreme sports also include a stratospheric jump, unprotected climbing, a wreck race or an off-road expedition.
